​Botulinum toxin type A (BTXA) is an anti-aging treatment used to relax muscles in the face that can cause permanent lines and creases. It is also highly effective in treating migraines. BTXA is a purified protein produced by the clostridium botulinum bacteria. Although BTXA is classified as a toxin, its medical and cosmetic uses produce no serious side effects due to the fact that extremely small amounts are used in isolated muscles.
